There is a cold day situation in many districts including Patna. There is going to be no respite from cold in Bihar for the coming four days. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for the people for the coming four days. The effect of cold and dense fog is completely affecting all transport services, including rail and air services. The severe cold, which started more or less from January 12, is continuing in almost all the districts of Bihar and the Meteorological Department has expressed hope that there will be no respite from the cold for the next 5 days.

Cold wave alert till January 28

Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, Sheikhpura, Jamui, Samastipur, Nawada, Buxar and Siwan have been kept in the Red Zone due to extreme cold conditions. According to the Meteorological Department, the flow of icy westerly and northwesterly winds in the lower troposphere has been continuing since January 12. That’s why it’s so cold. This situation will continue till January 29. Orange and yellow alert has been issued regarding cold wave till January 28. The wind speed in Bihar is four to six kilometers per hour.

State alerts of dense fog, three flights canceled

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of dense fog in the state. There was very dense fog in most of the districts of Bihar on Wednesday. Its effect was seen from two wheelers to big vehicles running on the road. The effect of the fog was that vehicles had to reduce their speed by switching on their headlights. Vehicles were seen moving on the roads till early morning and late night. Fog has affected trains and airplanes. Most of the trains running from Delhi are running late by hours, more or less the situation is the same with flights also. Due to dense fog, three flights coming to Patna were canceled and 10 flights were delayed.

Minimum temperature recorded in 22 cities declined

Gaya district was the coldest during the last 24 hours, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 5.4 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding cold day along with dense fog in Nalanda, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jehanabad, Arwal, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Buxar and Kaimur. Apart from this, yellow alert has been issued in all the districts of the state regarding winter day. There will be rain in the morning and evening due to westerly wind. A decline was recorded in the minimum temperature of 22 cities including Patna. An increase was recorded in the maximum temperature of 25 cities including Patna. Cold day like conditions prevail in Patna, Purnia, Valmiki Nagar, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Supaul, Forbesganj, Motihari. Cold wave has had a significant impact on public life in 18 districts of the state. It is extremely cold in Siwan, Shekhpura and Gopalganj also.
